The Haller Group is bringing together its long-standing expertise in defence and security solutions within its new business unit, Haller Defence. The aim is to develop fully integrated defence capabilities based on proven dual-use technologies. A key milestone in this strategy is the ‘Titan A8’ modular vehicle platform, which serves as a universal reference.
The Haller Group is taking the next strategic step in its corporate development by establishing the Haller Defence business unit. The new unit brings together all existing activities in the defence sector and will initially be run as an internal business unit. A spin-off as an independent company is already planned for the end of the year.
Tradition meets digital system integration
The company is built on a solid foundation. With over 60 years’ experience as a long-standing maintenance and service partner to the German Armed Forces, the Haller Group possesses in-depth expertise in military structures, logistics processes and specific operational requirements. Through Haller Defence, the Group is now expanding its military portfolio to become a software-driven integrator of complex defence systems.
The focus is on combining state-of-the-art zero-emission vehicle technology, artificial intelligence and circular energy systems to deliver next-generation defence and security solutions. By leveraging the Group’s existing solutions, such as those in the fields of alternative propulsion systems, software and energy infrastructure, Haller Defence can significantly accelerate the development of new systems.
Sustainable mobility and digital sovereignty in defence
Haller Defence combines fully emission-free propulsion technologies (clean and silent) with a highly resilient digital ecosystem. The portfolio is divided into four strategic core areas:
- Tactical mobility: The vehicle range spans from light tactical units to heavy, armoured logistics trucks (4×4 to 10×10) with ballistic protection (level 3–6). Thanks to alternative propulsion systems, operational forces benefit from significant operational advantages, including a reduced thermal and acoustic signature, as well as silent ‘Silent Watch’ mode.
- Modular energy infrastructure: As a self-sufficient energy source, the Energy Cube ensures the operational readiness of critical systems, ranging from field hospitals and radar stations to command centres. The integration of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) energy management ensures maximum reliability during stand-alone operation.
- AI & digital defence: This is the digital core of Haller Defence. The software stack combines in the Haller Battlefield Operating System (HBOS), amongst other things, AI-based mission and decision-making systems, autonomous driving and navigation (including in GPS-denied environments), swarm and cooperative intelligence, as well as defence telematics and secure data layers. The hardware-independent software solutions are demonstrated using Titan A8.
- Comprehensive lifecycle support: To ensure long-term operational readiness, Haller Defence offers a full range of services, from on-site maintenance and cyber hardening to software updates, retrofits and mid-life upgrades for existing fleets.
All technologies are designed to function cohesively in land, air, water and stationary operational scenarios.
Reference project “Titan A8”: Modular platform for heavy-duty applications
At the heart of this technological development lies the Titan A8 project. This is a modular platform for heavy, highly mobile specialist vehicles in the defence and dual-use sectors. The Titan A8 serves as a universal reference and demonstration platform. By utilising solutions from the Haller Group and its partners, it demonstrates technological capabilities and system integration:
- Haller Defence: Acts as the central system integrator
- Haller Technology: Use of a shielded 3-megawatt PowerCube™
- QUANTRON: Integration of a zero-emission battery-electric powertrain (clean and silent) into the heavy-duty platform
- ROQIT: Embedding of an autonomous control stack
- Axon Vision: Integration of the AV defence system as an all-in-one solution for detecting and countering drones
- Haller Service: Lifecycle management with proven maintenance and service processes from the start.
The platform’s modular design makes it possible to flexibly accommodate different operational requirements and to rapidly further develop or adapt existing components.
Efficiency through technology transfer
“The key difference is that we’re not starting from scratch,” explains Andreas Haller, CEO of the Haller Group. “We’re drawing on existing technologies, structures and operational expertise within the Group and bringing them together in a targeted manner. The Titan A8 demonstrates our ability to develop complex systems using existing building blocks, enabling us to respond quickly, efficiently and flexibly to new requirements.”
The Haller Group will announce further details regarding its organisational structure and future partnerships later this year.
